Donatello's most famous statue is called David . This statue was created with marble in the year 1409 to be placed at the butress of the Duomo in Florence. It ended up being moved in the year 1416 to the Palazzo Vecchio, which stood as a symbol of civic pride. After some years, in 1430 Donatello made a bronze version of David . The new sculpture of David was displayed in the new Renaissance principles.
